Ginger Root

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

~Philippians 4:13

There are foods that remind me of beautiful moments in time.  Ginger is one of those foods for me.  Ginger always brings me good memories; the taste of it, the smell of it, the all of it.  It brings me back to my childhood times when my mother used to wake up very early in the morning to go to work, and used to wake me up with her. I of course did not want to wake up, but once I had my ginger tea, I would feel it was the best morning ever…and I felt like that every time I had my ginger tea.  I liked the tingling heat and the sweetness after the heat.  At such age, as an early consumer, I was not aware of its health benefits.

Health Benefits of Ginger Root:

  • Alleviating symptoms of gastrointestinal distress – regarded as an excellent carminative
  • Soothes the intestinal tract
  • Antioxidant effects – ability to inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds
  • Contains very potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols
  • Helps prevent the symptoms of motion sickness
  • Has been used to treat nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy (please check with your doctor first)
  • People with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis experience reductions in their pain levels and improvement on mobility when they consume ginger regularly

This information about the health benefits of ginger is taken from:  The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods by Michael Murray N.D. and Joseph Pizzorno N.D.

God bless you & with love,

I love #Girlboss

If you do not know yet who she is, you will soon find out.  Sophia Amoruso, author of #Girlboss, is also the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal, an online fashion store for girls with confidence and attitude.  I came across her  book while I was at Barnes & Noble.

The Title was initially what caught my attention #Girlboss.  As soon as I started reading her book, my admiration for Sophia was instant.  I bought the book and read it.  She is different.  This book is different.  She is authentic.  On her book, she tells you how she made it…even with ALL the odds against her.  She went thru quiet some stuff before she found what she really enjoyed doing, and once she found it, success followed.

I love this book.  As a #Girlboss myself, it makes me very happy that a book like this exist.  No matter what challenges you go thru in live, never stop believing in yourself, work hard towards your goals and dreams.  Pursue happiness and don’t stop pursuing it until you find it.

With love,

My Bicycle and I

The summer is over and it’s time for autumn, but did I have a memorable summer time with my bicycle this past summer… I purchased my bicycle, a Giant Escape, last year (2012).  I had been wanting to change my workout and exercise routing and put some excitement to it, other than just hit the Gym every time.  So I opted for a good brand bicycle.  When I got my Giant, it was love at first ride.

Riding my bicycle gave me a sense of freedom and empowerment.  I felt the wind caress me.  I heard the sound of the birds.  Every time I rode my bicycle, I was present.  I was in the moment.  The summer of 2012 and this past summer I rode it On and Thru the George Washington Bridge; this was an experience I will never forget.   I truly felt I could go anywhere on my bicycle.  It was a feeling I cannot describe.  Let’s just say that each time I rode it, I became in tune with my self, with my surroundings.  I also became more in touch with nature.  It was just my bicycle and I.

I like photography and sometimes I would take my camera, with me and take random pictures of the scenery.

I took pictures of the trees while lying down on a bench in the park.

In this amazing, beautiful and busy world, where routine sometimes tends to get the best of us, I urge you to find time for yourself, time to ride, time to jump, time to run, time to laugh, time to meditate, time to just be in tune with your self, and where you are completely present in the moment.

Don’t wait to accomplish something big to feel successful.  You are already successful.  Keep setting goals for yourself that keep you motivated and continue to challenge yourself, but know that success is a state of mind and you can create that state of mind.  When you create a state of mind in which you always feel successful, you will start attracting to your life all those other things that will help you continue to be successful

Thank you
